Just four nights after that big game in Ahmedabad and India’s heartbreaking World Cup final loss, the Men in Blue will face Australia again, this time in a T20I series. The BCCI announced a 15-member squad for the five-match series, which begins on November 23 in Vishakhapatnam, on Monday night, with only three members from India’s ODI World Cup squad. Now, Yuzvendra Chahal has gone viral on the internet.
The squad chosen is largely the same as that sent to Ireland for a T20I match in August. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in place of Japsrit Bumrah, who has been rested along with the majority of the World Cup squad members, with Shreyas Iyer set to join the series as the vice-captain. Suryakumar’s deputy for the first three games will be Ruturaj Gaikwad, who led India to an Asian Games gold medal in October. Meanwhile, the only other player from the ODI World Cup squad is Ishan Kishan.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who was previously snubbed from the ODI World Cup squad as well, was among the notable absentees from the 15-man squad announced, with India preferring a single leg-spinning option in Kuldeep Yadav. Chahal last played for India during their August tour of the West Indies.
Chahal took to social media hours after the announcement to share a no-word cryptic post, which quickly went viral. It only had a smile emoticon and nothing else. The series will kick off India’s preparations for the T20 World Cup next year, which will be held in the United States in about seven months. As a result, Chahal still has plenty of opportunities ahead of him, especially with the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
World Cup 2023:
The match against Australia will begin on November 23 with the first match in Visakhapatnam, followed by matches in Thiruvananthapuram (November 26), Guwahati (November 28), Raipur (December 1), and Bengaluru (December 3).
