Cricketer MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, was recently spotted visiting his ancestral home in the Lawali village of Almora, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday. Dhoni made the trip with his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, nearly two decades after his last visit to the ancestral home in 2004. Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket in August 2020, used the time to reconnect with his roots and learn more about his family’s heritage in Uttarakhand.
Among all the photos and videos circulating on the internet about the legendary cricketer’s visit, one video in particular has piqued the interest of all Dhoni fans. In the video, the former India wicketkeeper batter is seen limping down the stairs of a house. The video clearly shows that Dhoni is still recovering from knee surgery that occurred following IPL 2023.

On Thursday, Dhoni underwent successful left knee surgery in a Mumbai hospital. This development has fueled speculation about his participation in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League next year. Dhoni, who led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title, flew from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on Monday. He sought advice from renowned sports orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, a member of the medical panel who has operated on several top Indian cricketers, including Rishabh Pant.
In the ODI World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Rohit Sharma’s Indian team was defeated by Australia by six wickets, defending a total of 240 runs. Former World Cup-winning captains Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni did not attend, despite expectations. Dhoni missed the event because he was on vacation with his family in Uttarakhand.
The Indian Cricket Board, according to Kapil Dev, did not extend an invitation to the World Cup 2023 Finals. The absence of these cricketing legends gave the star-studded event, which was attended by dignitaries, celebrities, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an unexpected twist.
Kapil Dev’s World Cup controversy:
Meanwhile, Kapil Dev went on record at ABP News and stated,
“I wasn’t invited. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,”
