Although they were once excluded from the Indian armed forces, women are now making significant contributions in all fields. Women have joined the military since 1992, excluding the medical field. As the first female skydiver in the Indian Army, Lance Naik Manju of Eastern Command from the Corps of Military Police broke the previous record on November 16.
Lance Naik Manju creates history:
Lance Naik Manju’s video was shared by Eastern Command on its official Twitter account. “She jumped yesterday from 10,000 feet from an ALH,” the tweet stated. Her inspirational deed will serve as a role model for other female soldiers. The Indian Army told ANI that the soldier received preparation for the jump from the Adventure Wing’s skydiving training team.
Manju made her first record-breaking dive off an ALH (Advanced Light Helicopter) Dhruv chopper. She is seen being held aloft by two divers in the video.
While this is the first record kept by a woman in the Indian armed forces, it is by no means the first. Explore the other records that women in the armed forces have broken by taking a trip down memory lane.

All-Women Navy Crew Made History:
When an all-female navy crew successfully completed their first surveillance and reconnaissance mission over the Arabian Sea in August 2022, they made history. Before the expedition started, they underwent months of training.
