Sri Lanka Cricket’s biggest fan Uncle Perry has passed away at the age of 87. For Uncle Percy Cricket was more than a game & Sri Lanka Cricket was a life for him as he dedicated his entire life to supporting Sri Lanka. His memorable lifetime journey as a fan began in 1979 when Sri Lanka made his debut in the ODI World Cup in West Indies & since then he made a point to support the Lankan clan on each & every occasion.
Uncle Perry traveled to various Cricketing destinations just to witness the Sri Lankan team perform in front of his eyes. His presence at stadiums proudly waving to Sri Lankan fans was a sight to behold in every Sri Lankan fixture. However, in recent years Uncle Perry’s health started declining but Sri Lanka Cricket didn’t forget to honor him for his dedication & commitment to the game. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) honored him by presenting a generous sum of Rs. 5 million to support his health and well-being. Sri Lankan Cricket Secretary Mohan De Silva personally handed over the cheque, a gesture that demonstrated the profound respect and gratitude of the entire cricketing community.
Sanath Jayasuriya & entire Cricket Fraternity mourn Uncle Percy’s unfortunate demise

The sad news of Uncle Percy’s passing away stirred a storm among the fans & players. Cricketing greats such as Sanath Jayasuriya, Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, and former Sri Lanka cricketer turned commentator Russel Arnold sent their heartfelt condolences & tributes to the legendary cricketer.
Jayasuriya took to his Twitter handle to share his tribute for Uncle Percy he wrote, “It is with great sadness that I heard our beloved Uncle Percy has met his maker. You were the first superfan, and for all of us, you will always be special. RIP.”
Russel Arnold who had a close bond with Uncle Percy too wrote his heart out by sharing the duo pictures & captioning it as “RIP #unclepercy” accompanied by sad emojis. Notably, the duo shared a special bond & were a sheer example of friendship.
On the other hand, Irfan Pathan wrote, “My Condolences to the family of Uncle Percy as he is no more with us. The Indian team has a lot of respect for him”.
Uncle Percy’s spirit & enthusiasm were respected by the entire Cricket fraternity across the globe. Uncle Percy’s passing away marks the end of a great cricket fan who has never left the game in any walk of his life.
