SHOCKING! FIRE At Eden Gardens Amid ODI World Cup Prep

Six World Cup games will be held at the Eden Gardens, including the second semifinal on November 16. With only about two months until the start of the massive event, the ODI World Cup 2023, preparations are intense. After a fire broke out on Thursday, one of the most famous cricket grounds in the world, Eden Gardens, had a setback in its championship preparations. Snehashish Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, said that such an event did occur, but he was relieved that no significant harm was done and that matters were brought under control before they could spiral out of control.

At 11.50 last night, a fire started. The people who worked here first saw smoke, then the fire. Two fire tenders were dispatched right away, and the flames were quickly put out. The dressing room itself was not harmed. On Thursday, Ganguly informed reporters that only a few cables had burned. Ganguly confessed, “There is definitely no sabotage angle.”

Additionally, it was claimed that the on-site ground crew witnessed smoke emerging from the dressing area of the visiting squad. Right outside this dressing room, construction was taking place. Reports claim that the dressing room’s artificial ceiling started to smoke. The fire was put out after two fire engines arrived on the site. Six World Cup games will be held at the Eden Gardens, including the second semifinal on November 16.

On November 5, South Africa will play India at Eden Gardens in a league phase encounter. Pakistan and Bangladesh will play there for the first time on October 31. Since the ICC and BCCI delegations last week visited the site, it is quite unlikely that this fire will have an impact on World Cup preparations.

For the unversed, the One Day International cricket world championship is known as the Cricket World Cup, or ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The International Cricket Council, the organisation in charge of overseeing the sport, organises the event every four years, with preliminary qualification rounds preceding a finals competition.
