Indians were shocked to learn on Saturday that Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has married actress Sana Javed. Malik previously married Sania Mirza, a top tennis player from India, with whom he has a son. There have been rumors of a split in the couple’s prior marriage, even though they never formally announced their split. Mirza’s family has now officially acknowledged that the couple has been separated for a few months. Anam Mirza, Sania Mirza’s younger sister, shared the family’s formal statement on Instagram. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik, who once were regarded as the power couple and the embodiment of love, are now divorced. On January 20, 2024, Shoaib Malik posted images of his nikah with Sana Javed, which shocked everyone. Following this, Imran Mirza, Sania’s father, revealed for the first time that his daughter had taken Khula and discussed their daughter’s separation. Anam Mirza, the sister of the former tennis player, has now expressed support and discussed her divorce.

The family decided to come out due to the growing rumors regarding her and Shoaib Malik’s relationship. The family has officially announced that Sania and Shoaib separated a few months ago. 

The statement read, “Sania has always kept her personal life out of the public eye. She feels compelled to disclose today, nevertheless, that she and Shoaib had been divorced for a few months. She sends her best wishes for Shoaib’s next voyage!”

The statement, signed by Team Sania and the Mirza family, said, “At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well-wishers to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy.”

In the meantime, cricket player Shoaib Malik posted a picture of himself and Sana Javed on social media on Saturday with the comment, “And we created you in pairs.” The two have been close associates and have collaborated on several shows and TV ads in Pakistan.

According to PTI, Imran Mirza, the father of the tennis player, reportedly stated that “it was a ‘khula'” (a reference to a Muslim woman’s unilateral right to divorce her husband) as soon as word of the wedding leaked out.

Sana Javed, who was born on March 25, 1993, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She made her television debut in 2012 as the lead actress in the spiritual romantic drama serial “Shehr-e-Zaat,” starring Mahira Khan. Sana made an appearance in Mera Pehla Pyar, another TV series, in the same year. She made appearances in five serials and one telefilm in 2013.

Since then, Sana has gained notoriety on Pakistani television by contributing to several noteworthy films, such as Zara Yaad Kar. Her portrayal of Sanam Ali Khan Khaani in Anjum Shahzad’s drama series Khaani, however, brought her considerable praise and two nominations for the 2019 Lux Style Awards. Her performance as rape survivor Sameera in Rubina Ashraf’s crime drama Ruswai won her recognition as well.

The Siasat Daily claims that in 2020, Sana married singer Umair Jaswal in a secret Nikah ceremony, but their union was short-lived.
