The legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar was at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday morning to watch Mumbai and Vidarbha compete for the Ranji Trophy Final 2023–24. Former captain Dilip Vengsarkar and head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Chandrakant Pandit, joined Tendulkar in the stands at the renowned stadium to watch the action of the premier domestic tournament.
Notably, former captain Sunil Gavaskar supported Mumbai from the stands on Monday night, and Sachin Tendulkar is now at the Wankhede Stadium on the same day. Ajinkya Rahane and Musheer Khan received a standing ovation from Gavaskar after the two batsmen led the home team out of trouble on Day 2 with gritted, undefeated fifties.

Mumbai has taken a 119-run lead in the first innings and looks set to break their seven-year wait for a Ranji Trophy title. Mumbai bowlers, led by veteran fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni and spinner Shams Mulani, ran through Vidarbha’s batting lineup and bowled out the visiting team for just 105 runs, despite being bowled out for 224 in the first innings.
When it came to playing the perfect rescue act for Mumbai in the first innings, Shardul Thakur was the man with the bat. After the home team had collapsed to 111 for 6, the all-rounder from India began a counterattack. In just 69 balls, Shardul scored 75, smashing 3 sixes and 8 boundaries, helping Mumbai reach a respectable total.
Mumbai lost first-round picks Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lalwani early in the second innings, but a 130-run partnership between captain Rahane and young Musheer Khan helped the team escape trouble. Tuesday’s first session saw Shreyas Iyer nearing a fast fifty, and he looked fluid in the second innings.
