Rohit Sharma To Select The Asia Cup 2023 Squad
It will be interesting to see if India picks 15 players or a few more as all these extended squads have more than 15 players. On July 19, Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), announced the schedule of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. The tournament begins on August 30, with old rivals India and Pakistan locking horns in Sri Lanka’s Kandy on September 2.
The tournament will be played in a hybrid format, with four matches hosted by Pakistan and all matches hosted by India, for a total of nine matches in Sri Lanka on the Emerald Isle. India is in Group A, which also includes Pakistan and Nepal, and Group B includes Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
The tournament starts with a match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan. India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy. They will play their second group game against Nepal at the same venue on the 4th. of September The matches of the Super Four stage will begin on September 6 when the A1 and B2 sides will face each other in Lahore. The remaining matches will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The final will be played in Colombo on September 17.
The tournament will be held in the 50-over format given the ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India from October 5 to November 19. Sri Lanka is the defending champions of the Asia Cup having won the title last year. In total, they won six titles. India was the most successful team in the history of the tournament, accumulating a total of 7 titles.
