Rohit Sharma remembers working with Sarfaraz Khan’s father

It was recently disclosed by Rohit Sharma that he used to play with the father of Sarfaraz Khan. India recently won a five-match Test series against England 4-1 at home, having lost the opening match in Hyderabad.

A number of India’s most important players, including Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul, suffered injuries during the series, and Virat Kohli withdrew for personal reasons. During the series, the former captain of India was blessed with a baby boy.

A number of young players were given the chance to establish themselves on the big stage in their absence. During the series, five players made their debuts: Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, Akash Deep, Dhruv Jurel, and Devdutt Padikkal. Every debutant—aside from Patidar—made an impression at different points during the series.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, and the team management should be commended for supporting the young players against an experienced England squad. The 36-year-old took the lead and participated in all five games. He recently talked candidly about his experiences playing with the kids.

On Team Ro, Rohit stated, “I simply couldn’t follow their debuts. Their parents were there, which is why I loved their debuts so much. There was a lot of emotion.”

Sarfaraz, who had been making loads of runs in domestic cricket but was mysteriously not being selected for his country, made one of the eagerly awaited debuts. But he seized the opportunity when it presented itself, scoring three fifties in five innings against the Three Lions.

Sarfaraz’s father and wife were in attendance when the great Anil Kumble presented him with his India cap prior to the third Test in Rajkot. When he was younger, Rohit disclosed that he had performed with Naushad Khan, Sarfaraz’s father.

Rohit stated, “When I was very little, I played in the Kanga League with Sarfaraz’s father. His father batted left-handed. He was a highly renowned player in Mumbai cricket circles and an aggressive player. His son plays for India, so I wanted to thank him for his hard work and dedication. I just wanted to let him know that his son’s Test cap belongs to him as much as his son.”

In addition, Rohit expressed his enjoyment of playing with the younger players and expressed his admiration for their reaction to him and head coach Rahul Dravid.

“I had a great time playing with the kids. They are all quite naughty. The majority of them were well known to me, and I was aware of their strengths and preferred style of play. I was the only one telling them how wonderful they are and how well they have performed in the past. They handled Rahul bhai and Me so well,” he remarked.
