The most recent news is that Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has joined the Melbourne Stars. He will be a key member of the Stars squad for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season 13, marking his swift return to professional cricket. The 34-year-old, who announced his retirement from international cricket on November 24th, will join the Stars to help them prepare for the tournament’s final games.
Wasim has previous BBL experience, having played for the Melbourne Renegades. He’ll be sharing the Melbourne Stars locker room with fellow countrymen Haris Rauf and Usama Mir this time. Wasim’s lower-order hitting abilities and left-arm spin were highlighted by Stars general manager Blair Crouch, who expressed his delight at his selection.
Big Bash League updates:
Liam Dawson, an English bowling all-rounder, will almost certainly appear in the Stars’ first three games. Meanwhile, Wasim’s addition is seen as a calculated move to bolster the squad’s spin-bowling options and batting order. Imad is a valuable asset because he can bowl on the power play. In addition, his experience could help the Stars win a lot of games.
Imad Wasim has joined the Melbourne Stars’ BBL squad, which also includes Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Rauf, and other local and foreign talent. Wasim represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is. In May 2015, the middle-order batter was able to make his international debut against Zimbabwe. Throughout his career, he demonstrated his abilities as a dependable lower-order batsman and a cunning left-arm orthodox bowler.
During his international career, he has taken 109 wickets and scored 1,472 runs. The all-rounder is now one of the world’s most experienced T20 players. Wasim was chosen for the Islamabad team but has recently opted out of the current National T20 in Karachi. He is currently playing for the Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2023.
