He was forced to leave the third Test match between India and England in Rajkot midway through after taking his 500th Test wicket for his country because of a family emergency.

Rohit said at the press conference following the game, “It’s not easy to lose your best bowler in the middle of a Test match. First and foremost, family matters most to me. And there were no questions in our minds about him doing what he felt was right when we heard the news.”
He wanted to be with his family, and that was perfectly acceptable. It was advantageous to him, and his character and personality are demonstrated by his ability to worm his way in and become a team member. He continued, “We were thrilled to have him back.”
