Rahul Dravid And Wife Watch Son Play In Cooch Behar Trophy
Dravid is currently enjoying some much-needed personal time with his family following the hectic 2023 World Cup. To ensure a smooth handoff in leadership, VVS Laxman has assumed responsibility as head coach of the current home T20I series against Australia.
In 2018, Samit made headlines after he won a BTR Under-14 competition held by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) by smashing an astounding 150 runs in a match. His selection to represent Karnataka in the coveted 2023 Vinoo Mankad Trophy was based on his outstanding performance on the field. Though he only managed to collect 122 runs in four innings and record one half-century, his tournament performance was not as memorable as he had intended.
His remarkable innings of 87 runs off 95 balls against Mumbai, which displayed his talent and resolve, was one standout performance. Karnataka lost the match by 46 runs despite his outstanding effort, failing to reach the difficult target of 346 runs. Samit scored ten boundaries in his innings. In that same encounter, he also contributed with the ball, capturing two wickets for 59 runs in ten overs.
It’s important to note that Samit’s family has several gifted cricket players. Anvay, the younger son of the late great Rahul Dravid, is the captain of Karnataka’s U14 cricket squad and a talented cricket player as well.
Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the Indian team’s head coach has been extended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The 50-year-old cricket great Dravid assumed the position in 2021 after India’s disastrous 2021 T20 World Cup exit. Even though he was in charge for more than two years, India had not won any significant titles since 2014.
Dravid’s tenure saw India suffer defeats in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, the 2023 World Test Championship final, and the ODI World Cup final. The management was taken aback by India’s steady performances in all three formats, though, as they climbed to the top of the lists in each.
