Afghanistan hitter Rahmanullah Gurbaz of the Kolkata Knight Riders is excited to pick up tips from the seasoned Gautam Gambhir as the Indian Premier League 2024 season draws near. The 22-year-old Gurbaz, who is in his second season with KKR, is eager to improve his technique and foundations. He wants to concentrate on making the right shots in cricket and wants to get advice from veteran player Gambhir.
Gurbaz, who scored 280 runs at a strike rate of almost 99 during the 2023 ODI World Cup, feels that conventional shots should always be used as a starting point before attempting any spectacular strokes. He believes that the IPL is an essential chance to get ready for the June T20 World Cup.
Rahmanullah gets candid about Gautam Gambhir:
Gurbaz was quoted online by The Telegraph, “Among the most experienced people in the area is Gambhir sir. Thus, I can always turn to him for guidance and needs.”
He continued, “I believe that right now I am well-prepared and have the flexibility to adapt to various situations. In cricket, there are moments when you are unable to score in particular circumstances. However, we can turn to our knowledgeable coaches at KKR.”
Gurbaz agreed that it’s critical to play solid cricket shots, particularly in the opening role. “Yes, you need to have some options, but I have to be able to play good cricket shots as the opener. In the end, if the team needs it, I can try those (cheeky shots),” Gurbaz stated, hoping for a successful IPL to get ready for the T20 World Cup in June.
Gurbaz is still grounded and dedicated to helping the less fortunate in spite of his success. He gives helping the less fortunate priority because he remembers his lowly beginnings when he couldn’t afford even the most basic cricketing equipment.
In conclusion, he said, “Since we are all human, we ought to support one another. There is a great deal of poverty in our nation, and I was one of them. At one point, I didn’t even have ten rupees on me… Didn’t have enough cash for my gloves and bat.”
On March 23, KKR will play their first IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The two-time champions will be hoping to snap their ten-year IPL title drought.
