As Pakistan players receive warm welcomes in India as one of the nations competing in the World Cup 2023, a video of PCB chief Zaka Ashraf referring to India as “dushman mulk” (enemy nation) has gone viral on social media.
The Pakistani cricket team landed in Hyderabad on September 27 with a warm welcome from Indian spectators. Many Pakistani athletes expressed gratitude for the welcome they received in India, especially the team’s captain Babar Azam. However, a video of PCB head Ashraf making the remark regarding the other nation has been trending on social media.
The speaker stated in the video, “Players hain inka morale upar rehna chahiye jab ye kisi dushman mulk ya kisi bhi jagah khelne jaayen jahan wo competition ho raha ho, to they should go with the full support of the nation aur unko ek achche tarike se perform kar saken. You should assist the athletes [when they travel to an adversary nation or the venue of the competition] so that they can do well.”
PCB chief Zaka Ashraf:
Look at India's reception of Pakistani players and consider the remark made by the chairman of the PCB, Zaka Ashraf, who referred to India as 'Dushman Mulk'. It raises the question as to why certain individuals harbor so much hatred. #NamakHaram

The controversial comment made by the PCB director has drawn a lot of criticism. They claim unequivocally that he should not have used the term “dushman mulk.” Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, stated that his side is aiming for the championship. At a press conference, he merely stated that a top-four finish wouldn’t be appropriate for them. Before leaving for the ODI World Cup in India, the batter made this statement.
I hope we return this time with a trophy, he remarked. The top four is a modest objective for us. We want to triumph in the end. Because we had been playing for so long straight, we did not have enough time to organise a camp prior to the World Cup. We wanted to give the players a rest so they would return revitalised and hungry for victory. When you have that hunger, you play well.
