ODI Cricket World Cup: With 23 matches completed and 22 still to go, the Men’s Cricket World Cup is currently halfway through. Fans have been glued to their screens for the past twenty days because of some amazing cricket that has been played.
All three departments have had outstanding displays that have been excellent ambassadors for our beautiful game. A few records have also been broken, one of which occurred today. Today, Glenn Maxwell achieved a significant record by breaking the fastest hundred in a World Cup match.
Top centuries in ODI Cricket World Cup:
5. Ab de Villiers:
During a game in Sydney during the 2015 World Cup in Australia, the legendary Ab de Villiers completely destroyed the West Indies attack. With a brilliant display of hitting, he knocked out 162 off just 66 balls. It only took him 52 deliveries to reach 100 runs, and his effort helped the Proteas score 408 runs overall.
During his innings, de Villiers, the genius that he is, blasted eight sixes and seventeen boundaries. The West Indies were bowled out for 151 in their innings, and South Africa won the match rather easily.

4. Glenn Maxwell:
The fact that Maxwell appears twice on this list shouldn’t surprise too many people. That is the image he has developed in the past few years. Australia made history in the 2015 World Cup when the Big Show struck a remarkable century off 51 balls, enabling his team to reach 376 in the allotted 50 overs.
Maxwell spent his time at the crease hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes. Maxwell sent the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the field, leaving them completely bewildered. In the end, Australia prevailed in the match by a score of 64 runs.

3. Kevin O’Brien:
During a 2011 World Cup match between Ireland and England, Kevin O’Brien amassed a fantastic 50-ball hundred that included six maximums and thirteen boundaries. With 327 points to their name, England had the advantage in the odds. But Ireland and O’Brien had other ideas, as they pulled off an incredible upset.
It is one of the greatest ODI hundreds to date, and the fact that it came in a winning chase made the accomplishment even more remarkable. O’Brien was named Player of the Match as Ireland won the match with five deliveries remaining.

2. Aiden Markram:
In this very Men’s World Cup, South Africa’s elegant batsman Aiden Markram smashed a 49-ball century against Sri Lanka. Although South Africa’s innings featured three centuries, Markram’s contribution to the day was significantly greater than those of the other two. In an innings that featured three sixes and fourteen boundaries, Markram finished with a score of 106 off just 54 deliveries.
After Markram’s knock, South Africa reached 428, which was 102 too many for Sri Lanka. With his innings, Markram demonstrated the range of shots in his repertoire and won player-of-the-match honours.
FUN FACT: Aiden Markram is the only RSA captain to have an ICC Trophy. He lifted the title as the U19 team captain in 2014 when his team defeated Pak U19 which included Imam & Saud. Rabada was also part of that team.

1. Glenn Maxwell:
Today, Maxwell rewrote history when he destroyed the Netherlands’ bowlers, who appeared to be completely incompetent, with an incredible 40-ball century. His ingenuity elevated Australia’s total to 399, putting them in a position to win. When Maxwell was at the crease, he broke a number of records and his sublime hitting kept the crowd thoroughly entertained.
In the 39th over, Maxwell reached the middle, but he left a lasting impression. He continued to smash eight sixes and nine boundaries, sharing the majority of the runs in a 103-run stand with Pat Cummins. In the quadrennial event, his innings may be the best thus far.
