When Lionel Messi’s wife mistook one of her husband’s colleagues for the World Cup victor, it led to an unpleasant situation. Since Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami has gone undefeated, won the Leagues Cup, and advanced to the US Open Cup final. Although Inter has struggled and is currently last in the Eastern Conference, they have enjoyed success in the cup. However, Messi came off the bench and excelled once more in the victory over the New York Red Bulls.
Gerardo Martino decided to give Messi, 36, a little rest after a hard run of games in recent weeks by starting him on the bench. Diego Gomez’s goal in the 37th minute had given his team a 1-0 lead when the Argentine was called upon, and he responded in trademark Messi fashion. The ball was passed out to left defender Jordi Alba, who then found his former Barcelona teammate with a wonderful touch in the 89th minute to secure the victory.

Messi then made a ball that would have been hard to make for anybody else, but he was able to find Benjamin Cremaschi with a beautiful outside-of-the-foot pass that split the opposition. Afterwards, Cremaschi paid it forward by advancing to the byline and passing the ball back to Messi, who tapped in from close range.
Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo rushed onto the field to congratulate the number 10 after the game, but as she went over, she mistakenly thought he was full-back Jordi Alba. Before Roccuzzo was able to locate Messi again, the two were able to laugh it off and give a half-hearted hug. Along with midfielder Sergio Busquets, Alba left Barcelona in the summer and joined Inter Miami.
For the unversed, although Messi later left Argentina to pursue his sport, the two eventually reconnected over a tragedy and fell in love. Messi and Roccuzzo originally met when they were young. In Rosario, Argentina, where they both grew up, the two first met when they were young. Messi relocated to Spain as a teenager in order to further his football career. Ursula Notz, Roccuzzo’s closest friend, perished in a car accident in 2005. Messi reportedly hurried from Spain to Argentina after hearing the news to comfort his prospective wife, according to Argentina’s Para Ti.
