Mohammed Shami, a prominent fast bowler for India, had successful surgery in London a few weeks ago to treat an ankle injury that had been bothering him for the entire 2023 ODI World Cup. The speedster will therefore be unable to participate in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and will also be absent from the crucial T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to begin play on June 1 in the West Indies and the United States. Mohammed Shami’s health update is eagerly awaited by his fans.
The fast bowler is back in India, according to BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Secretary Jay Shah, who recently provided an update on Shami’s surgery. Shah went on to provide an approximate time frame for Shami’s comeback, stating that it will probably happen during the home series versus Bangladesh. In September, Bangladesh will play three Twenty20 international matches and two Test matches in India.

“Shami is back in India after completing his surgery. Shami’s comeback is probably scheduled for the home series versus Bangladesh,” the Hindustan Times cited Shah as saying.
During the ODI World Cup 2023, Shami looked formidable as he replaced the injured Hardik Pandya in the match against New Zealand. After taking a wicket in his opening match of the tournament, the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh went on a rampage that saw him top the leaderboard for most wickets taken.
After seven innings at an average of 10.7 and an economy of 5.26, Shami finished the tournament with 24 scalps and three fifers. In the tournament’s semi-final matchup with New Zealand, he bowled the best he had ever seen, going 7/57 to help India defeat the Kiwis by 70 runs and advance to the final.
After being ruled out of the England series due to right quadriceps pain, wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has also started his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The 31-year-old participated in the series’ opening match in Hyderabad, where he scored 86 and 22 while helping India lose by 28 runs.
“KL Rahul needed an injection, he has started rehab and is at the NCA,” Shah stated. Rahul is anticipated to return to action in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024, where he will captain the Lucknow Super Giants.
