IPL 2024 Retention Day: Top Transfers And Rumours
Retention Day for the Indian Premier League 2024 has arrived, and all ten teams will be releasing their list of players they hope to keep before the auction. Before the official announcement, Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, was generating the most media attention. There are rumors that he is likely to depart the team and rejoin the Mumbai Indians. The whole cricket community is in shock about the possible swap since Rohit Sharma is now captain of the Mumbai team and has not indicated that he will be departing anytime soon.
The teams of several elite players have already let them go. The Delhi Capitals released players including Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey, and Shahbaz Ahmed and Mayank Dagar were moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
A few more trades that have already been finalized are Romario Shepherd from the Mumbai Indians to the Lucknow Super Giants, Devdutt Padikkal from the Rajasthan Royals to the Lucknow Super Giants, and Avesh Khan from the Lucknow Super Giants to the Rajasthan Royals.
Top player retention/release/trade rumors:
Shardul Thakur: The all-round player was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 10.75 crore, but the team is allegedly eager to let go of the Indian star before the auction to clear up some much-needed cash.
Prithvi Shaw: The opening batter’s future generated a lot of talk following his turbulent season with the Delhi Capitals the previous year. However, it appears the team will keep Shaw around.
Hardik Pandya: It appears that the captains of the Gujarat Titans are in the process of transitioning to the Mumbai Indians. It will be intriguing to observe, though, if Hardik will join Rohit Sharma’s army or assume the role of skipper at MI.
