IPL 2024 player auction list
With an average of 64.22 and 578 runs from 10 innings during the just concluded Cricket World Cup in India, Ravindra emerged as one of the tournament’s breakthrough performers. This featured his 75-run haul at Dharamsala against the Indian pace attack.
The highest price tag list also includes Afghanistan’s Mujeeb ur Rahman and Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, while Mohammad Nabi has priced himself at Rs 1.5 crore. Several players from New Zealand, South Africa, and England have entered the auctions with a price tag of Rs 2 crore.
Notably, the auctions held last year failed to sell Head or Mitchell.
The IPL 2024 auction, which has a base price of Rs 2 crore and will take place on December 19 at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, will include 23 players. This will include Umesh Yadav, Harshal Patel, and Shardul Thakur from India.
On that day, the names of 333 cricket players would be placed beneath the gavel. There are 13 players with a base price of INR 1.5 crore on the auction list. Of the 333 players, 214 are from India, 119 are from abroad, and two are from partner countries. There are 116 capped players overall, 215 uncapped players, and 2 associate nation players. There are now 77 seats available, with up to 30 reserved for participants from other countries.
The teams with the most spots to fill are the Kolkata Knight Riders (12), while the teams with the fewest spots available are the Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (six).
As of the start of the auction, the Gujarat Titans hold the highest salary cap of Rs 38.15 crore. The teams with the most money to spend in the auctions are SRH (Rs 34 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 32.7 crore), and CSK (Rs 31.4 crore).
The IPL 2024 auction will begin at 1:30 PM IST (1:00 PM local time) in Dubai.
What are the types of trades an IPL franchise can do?

Two categories of trading exist. When a franchise purchases one or more players from another IPL team, it is known as a one-way deal. Next, clubs exchange players in a two-way transaction. Both a one-way trade and a two-way trade require player approval.
Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder and captain of the Gujarat Titans, is an example of a one-way deal; he is going to the Mumbai Indians. Romario Shepherd also transferred to the Mumbai Indians from the Lucknow Super Giants. Cameron Green of Mumbai also made a one-way trade to the RCB. The other trade had the Rajasthan Royals trading bowler Avesh Khan of the Lucknow Super Giants for their best batsman, Devdutt Padikkal. A swap is not a like-for-like player trade, as in this instance.
How does the one-way trade of players work?
A player can let his current team know he’s interested in being traded if he receives an offer from another IPL squad. A franchise may also decide to sell a player after obtaining the player’s permission. A transfer fee is discussed in both cases between the player and his present IPL team. For instance, the player and the Gujarat Titans would have agreed on a transfer fee when Hardik Pandya joined the Mumbai Indians.
Does a player earn from the transfer fees?
Indeed. A portion of the transfer fees might be awarded to the player. Transfer fees are not capped by the BCCI. It is legal for players to request a portion of the transfer costs. A player can request 20 percent, or six crore, from the team he is leaving, for instance, if their transfer fee is Rs 30 crore. This payment will only be made once. A transfer agreement is forwarded to the BCCI upon signature. The team that is releasing the player receives the transfer fee from the side that is relocating the player. The transfer fee for Hardik has not yet been made public.
Can teams release players and retain players?

Teams can release players, and their assets will be included in the auction. They can hold on to players as well. For instance, all-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have been retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Simultaneously, players including India’s Shardul Thakur, New Zealand’s Tim Southee, and Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan were released by KKR. England’s best batsman for Test cricket, Joe Root, has been released by the Rajasthan Royals after he decided not to play in the IPL 2024.
Who pays a player who moves from one team to another?
In Hardik’s case, for instance, the Mumbai Indians will have to pay his yearly costs of Rs 15 crore, which is the same amount that the Gujarat Titans paid for his services before the major auction.
So from where does a team source the money to buy a player who has been traded to them?
Each team in the previous year’s massive auction got a purse of Rs 95 crores. There is a mini-auction this year, and the total budget has been increased by Rs 5 crore. The Mumbai Indians invested Rs 94.5 crores in 2018–19. As a result, they barely had Rs 5.50 crore set aside for the forthcoming auction. But MI will have the cash on hand to sign Hardik and bolster the team in the auction, given that they have released several players, including all-rounder Cameron Green and fast bowler Jofra Archer.
So, this was all about the IPL 2024 player auction list and auction details.
