Over 11.3 crore viewers tuned in on the first day of the 2024 season on JioCinema, the official IPL streaming platform. This is a 51% increase over the first day of the 2023 IPL. On the first day of the IPL 2024, JioCinema recorded over 59 million video views on its platform, resulting in 660 crore minutes of viewing time. This was the start of the platform’s second season.

Fans were treated to never-before-heard IPL tales from their favourite stars, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, during the opening match on JioCinema, making it an amazing spectacle to see. Cricket fans heard Sehwag commentate in Haryanvi for the first time as JioCinema turned up the commentary box as well. Style icon and musician Badshah called the shots with his swagger, turning up the pop-figure quotient in JioCinema’s Punjabi and Haryanvi commentary box.

A contributing factor to the unprecedented numbers during the first game was the most recent iteration of JioCinema’s free-to-play prediction and victory game, Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan. A viewer won gold worth INR 50 lakhs from the opening night event, and the first runner-up took home gold worth INR 10 lakhs. Over fifty individuals took home gold worth INR 1 lakh apiece. A Viacom18 spokeswoman stated, “We’ve picked up where we left off from last year, and the numbers prove there’s no better way to experience the IPL than digital.
