IPL 2024: The Mumbai Indians announced the return of Hardik Pandya to the franchise after a two-year absence. The trade was completed late Sunday evening after the teams announced their list of retained and released players. Cameron Green was traded for INR 17.5 crores to Royal Challengers Bangalore. This paved the way for Pandya to return to the 5-time IPL champions ahead of the 2024 season.
The Titans wasted no time in appointing Shubman Gill as their new head coach. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon, with the 24-year-old succeeding Pandya and hoping to reclaim the title.
Hardik Pandya was confirmed to be on his way back to the Mumbai Indians on Sunday evening. The transaction occurred after the Mumbai Indians traded Cameron Green to RCB for INR 17.5 crores. After the transfer was approved, the India all-rounder took to Twitter and sent a heartfelt message to Gujarat Titans fans. The text of the note read, “I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to fans, team, and management at Gujarat Titans.”

Meanwhile, GT’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, revealed the reason for Hardik Pandya’s departure. The former England player praised the 30-year-old for everything he had done for the team.
Vikram Solanki said, “As the first captain of the Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya has helped the franchise deliver two fantastic seasons that resulted in one IPL championship and one appearance in the final. He has now expressed a desire to rejoin his former team, the Mumbai Indians. We respect his decision and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”
