The Indian Premier League, or IPL, is scheduled to begin its 17th edition on March 22. Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will play in the tournament’s season opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The fans are eager to watch their favourite franchises compete again as the upcoming tournament season draws near.
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) announced in advance of the season opener that the IPL 2024 cricket match on Friday, March 22, will cause it to extend its metro train operations past the scheduled time. To ease travel and reduce traffic, the metro trains will run from 11:00 p.m. on March 22 until 1 a.m. on March 23. Additionally, Chennai Metro will arrange for the distribution of 50-iNR one-way tickets. You can use these tickets to get off at any metro station in the network. To announce their schedule change, the Chennai metro rail took to social media.
CRML tweet ahead of IPL 2024:
CMRL tweeted, “Because of the large crowds, there is typically network congestion at the stadium and in the surrounding areas, making it challenging to purchase tickets online while in the stadium. Additionally, there will be a lot of traffic at the Government Estate and Central metro stations after the game, which could lead to long waits in line to buy tickets.”
The tweet went on, “Before leaving for the stadium, commuters are advised to purchase their metro tickets in advance for return/round trip (to & fro) either online (CMRL mobile App, Paytm app, Phonepe app, WhatsApp, ONDC, etc.) or at the ticket counters at any of the stations.”
The reigning champion Chennai Super Kings will enter the IPL 2024 under the new managership of prominent Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad. Following the resignation of former captain MS Dhoni, Gaikwad will try to lead the five-time champions with his best performance.
The reigning champions will be looking to start strong and score their first points as their matchup with Bangalore draws near.
