In five ODI matches, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has seen himself as fortunate to have taken out Virat Kohli’s wicket. The former made this announcement before the present ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and Bangladesh on October 19. Prior to the match, Kohli complimented Hasan and stated, “I’ve played a lot against him over the years. He has incredible control. He is an extremely skilled bowler. Moreover, He bowls really well with the new ball, knows how to fool the batter, and is also very frugal.”
However, the all-rounder from Bangladesh stated that it gives him immense pleasure to remove Kohli from the game. He further added, “He’s a unique batsman—possibly the greatest of the current era. Getting him out five times seems fortunate to me. Naturally, I will be quite happy to take his wicket.”

In the meantime, the left-hander suffered a let-quadricep injury during the game against New Zealand. Despite bowling ten overs, his fitness wasn’t at its peak. Mehmud, the team director, is upbeat about Shakib’s prospects of playing against India in the interim.
Mahmud stated, “Shakib is getting better. He is not in pain. However, when he hits the nets tomorrow, we will be aware of the entire situation. He’ll run between the wickets as well. We’re hoping he can compete against India. He engaged in some upper-body exercises in the gym today in addition to a swimming session. Tomorrow, there will be a scan, which will help us understand his condition better.”
He stated, “These injuries typically cause a great deal of pain. Even just getting around is difficult. Shakib is doing fine. It’s inspiring hope in us. Shakib wants to play, therefore we’re also optimistic that he’s 85–90% fit, as he was in the previous game following his injury. But that relies on his being fully fit.”
For the unversed, the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, a quadrennial One Day International cricket competition played by men’s national teams and overseen by the International Cricket Council, will take place in 2023.
