The (Indian Premier League) IPL team Mumbai Indians announced today that former New Zealand fast Shane Bond is stepping down as bowling coach. The former cricket player from New Zealand expressed that he will miss the memories he has made and the fun he had playing with all the boys over the years.
Bond has been the Mumbai Indians’ bowling coach for the last eight years. During that time, he has helped players like Mitchell McClenaghan, Trent Boult, Arshad Khan, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Madhwal, Alzarri Joseph, and many more develop. During his tenure, the team won four IPL championships.
The former spinner for the Kolkata Knight Riders also thanked the Ambani family for providing him with the opportunity to work with such exceptionally talented athletes. Bond’s final season with the five-time winners saw them achieve a better result after finishing last in the 2022 season. The runner-up Gujarat Titans defeated them in the playoffs. Bond’s association with the Mumbai Indians began in 2015, and the team won the title in that year as well as championships in 2017, 2019, and 2020.

According to the official website, the 48-year-old wished them the best. He said, “I want to express my gratitude to the Ambani family for giving me the chance to be a part of MI One Family for the past nine seasons. With so many wonderful memories made both on and off the pitch, it has been an amazing experience.”
The former fast bowler continued, “I have been fortunate enough to work with and have strong relationships with so many great people, both players and staff. I want the best for their future and shall miss them all very much. Lastly, I would like to thank MI Paltan for their assistance as well.”
