Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan: Having been humiliated by Australia not too long ago, Pakistan’s problems have gotten worse as they now face an embarrassing 5-0 rout against New Zealand. The green shirts have to fight hard in tomorrow’s final game to save even a semblance of pride after losing four straight games in the current series.
The series has been biassed from the beginning. The clinical superiority displayed by players like Daryl Mitchell, Finn Allen, and Glenn Phillips, to mention a few, is encouraging for New Zealand. Pakistan has faced numerous challenges. Their batting, which was once known for its exuberance, has diminished.
Their efforts have been hindered by misfiring openers, a shaky middle order, and a deficiency of late-inning flourish. The bowling has also had trouble getting into a groove and has been unable to stop the Kiwis’ aggressive style of play.
Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan digs on Mohammad Rizwan:
There’s a clear lack of confidence and momentum in the Pakistani camp. Their problems have been exacerbated by missed catches, bad decisions made in the field, and a general feeling of frustration. In sharp contrast to New Zealand’s excitement, the team’s body language conveys that they are finding it difficult to handle the increasing pressure.
The recent fourth Twenty20 International showcased Pakistan’s ability to produce humorous moments despite facing an overwhelming series rout. With his calm demeanour, veteran batter Mohammad Rizwan turned into the unexpected star of the humorous on-field incident.
Everything happened during a risky attempt at a double. For an instant, Rizwan lost his footing and was unable to hold onto his bat. In an attempt to maintain the momentum, he started a brave run without using a bat towards the non-striker’s end.
Unfortunately, though, replays showed that his gloved hand touched the ground just short of the crease, despite an incredible stretch. With a hint of humour, the umpires called it a “short run” right away.
Not only was Rizwan’s batless run a highlight for Pakistani supporters, but it also transcended national boundaries and made people laugh all around the world. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t help but join in the fun, posting a picture of the event on social media with the lighthearted hashtag “Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi #shortrun.”
Fans responded favourably to Dhawan’s lighthearted remark, which made reference to the well-known Indian contact sport Kabaddi, in which players tag opponents by touching them while holding their breath. With the swift rise of the hashtag #shortrun, Rizwan’s amusing accident became a widely shared meme.
