On Qawwali night, Babar Azam & Sarfaraz Ahmed, along with many other Pakistan cricketers were spotted. A viral video on social media showed Pakistani cricketers enjoying their time away from the game by taking part in the event. Notably, Babar was seen using his smartphone, whereas Sarfaraz was fully immersed in the songs.
Furthermore, while the singers were on stage singing the song, Ahmed made an effort to sing the song himself. Notably, the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning captain performed the chorus of the song ‘Mera piya ghar aaya’ alongside the singers. However, it appeared that the Pakistan cricketers needed a rest after a long World Cup season and an upcoming tour of Australia.
Meanwhile, not much has gone well for Pakistan in recent weeks. Notably, the Asian team was unable to reach the final of the Asia Cup 2023, losing by a huge margin to India. More importantly, they suffered an injury to Naseem Shah, which altered the dynamics of their bowling. Pakistan lost five of nine ODI World Cup 2023 games.

However, the former world champions lost four consecutive matches against India, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa. It hampered their chances of progressing to the tournament’s knockout stage. They were eventually unable to qualify. Notably, Babar was chastised for his captaincy during the tournament, forcing him to resign. It resulted in a change in command. The internet has gone gaga seeing the video of their favourite cricketers enjoying a fun Qawwali night.
Inzamam-ul-Haq had to step down as the team’s chief selector midway through the tournament due to stakes in another organization alongside Babar, Shaheen, Mohammad Rizwan, and others.
Shaheen Afridi and Shan Masood have been named Pakistan’s new T20I and Test captains, respectively. A new selection committee, headed by Wahab Riaz, has also been appointed. Furthermore, Pakistan has named Mohammad Hafeez as its new head coach and director of cricket operations. Meanwhile, Pakistan will visit Australia in December for a tough summer.
