Mrinank Singh, a 25-year-old former cricket player from Faridabad, Haryana, got caught up in the legal system. Conman cricketer Singh started out as a player for the state’s Under-19 team, but his obsession with a fancy lifestyle turned him from an aspirant player to a con man.
Singh made up false identities to fool people and get away with their money. He pretended to be a senior IPS officer to leverage the authority to deceive five-star establishments and leave the premises without paying his bills.
Instead of living a lavish lifestyle, Mrinank Singh pretended to be an IPL player and assumed other identities in order to trick multiple women. After receiving a complaint from a five-star hotel, Singh found himself in a series of legal disputes with the Chanakyapuri police station in Delhi.
Conman cricketer Mrinank Singh:
During his July 22–29, 2022, stay at a five-star hotel in Central Delhi, Singh left a ₹5,53,362 bill unpaid, which resulted in a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Singh eerily disappeared when the police came to question him, convincing friends that he had relocated to Dubai, which resulted in the issuance of a non-bailable warrant.
Singh’s plans to flee to Hong Kong were foiled when he was caught at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Singh attempted to control the situation even while he was being held captive by pretending to be a senior IPS officer in order to trick the authorities.
Mrinank Singh demonstrated extreme audacity in 2021 when he used his connection from a zonal cricket academy to con superstar Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant out of ₹1.6 crore. Rishabh Pant lost a lot of money by putting his trust in Singh because the con artist claimed he could get pricey watches at fair prices. Pant trusted Singh to buy watches and other luxury items and sell them for a profit, only to be duped later.
Pant learned the whole story when Mrinak gave him a check that ultimately bounced. It’s interesting that despite everything, Pant chose not to report Mrinank Singh to the police. Nonetheless, fans went into meltdown mode on social media following this con man’s arrest.
