Before T20 WC, Pakistan cricket team training goes viral

In order to get ready for the intense T20 season that lies ahead, the Pakistan Cricket Team is participating in a fitness camp at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) Kakul, Abbottabad, in conjunction with the Pakistan Army. Stars like Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, and Shadab Khan are among the 29 players putting in intense physical training.

On Monday, April 1, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave fans a sneak peek at the players’ fitness drills as they worked hard to get ready for the action-packed season, which will include the T20 World Cup 2024. Interestingly, the team was split into two groups, and each group engaged in conventional training sessions in the gym as well as outdoor activities.

A significant shift in PCB’s leadership has been declared in front of the T20 World Cup 2024, with star batsman Babar Azam being reinstated as captain. Notably, following Pakistan’s failure to advance to the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals, Babar resigned as captain of three different forms.

After he resigned, the board named fast bowler Shaheen Afridi the new Test captain and chose Shan Masood as the new captain of the Twenty20 Internationals. Afridi’s maiden series as captain, however, was not particularly noteworthy as Pakistan lost the five-match series against New Zealand 1-4 in January 2024.

Following the series, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi was named the new chairman of the PCB in February, succeeding interim leader Zaka Ashraf, who had resigned in January. Legendary Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi disagrees with Babar’s reappointment as captain, believing that Mohammad Rizwan would have been a better option. Shaheen is reportedly not too pleased with the PCB’s decision, which compelled the board to call an urgent meeting with the speedster.

The cricket fans are extremely excited about the T20 World Cup. Currently, the excitement for IPL 2024 is going strong and high in India.
