The producers of the Ghoomer film and lead actress Saiyami Kher gave an exclusive screening of the movie “Ghoomer” for the paraplegic cricket players of India, in a move that highlights the ability of cinema to uplift and inspire. Nearly 50 paraplegic cricket players, including those who officially represent India in international competitions, were present at the event, which took place in Mumbai Friday night.
The portrayal of Saiyami Kher in “Ghoomer” created a lasting impression on viewers and paraplegic cricket players in real life. Her captivating performance had a tremendous effect on people whose physical limitations provided special hurdles on the cricket pitch in addition to moving viewers on an emotional level.
The producers of Ghoomer and actress Saiyami Kher were contacted by DCCI, a division of BCCI, after receiving strong and favourable word of mouth. They stated their wish to set up a special showing for the committed paraplegic cricket players of India, realising the potential of the movie to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. Everyone was moved to tears by the movie and Saiyami’s sincere portrayal of Anina.
