Virat Kohli, the legendary India player, amassed a record-breaking 765 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023, earning him the title of Player of the Tournament. Kohli’s outstanding performance in the recently concluded tournament included three centuries and six half-centuries.
Despite his remarkable batting achievements, Kohli was defeated in the final as Australia defeated India by 6 wickets on Sunday, much to the chagrin of millions of cricket fans across the country. With the countdown to India’s next major trophy heating up, Kohli’s fans are waiting to see if the cricket legend will play in the Men’s upcoming ODI World Cup in 2027.
Virat Kohli and the World Cup:
Following Kohli’s World Cup exclusion, a lengthy Facebook post circulating on the internet is providing a significant diversion for his fans. According to the post, Kohli’s form is expected to decline from August 2025 to February 2027 before rebounding just in time for the World Cup 2027. The viral post originated from the “Stars and Astrology” Facebook (Meta) page and was shared on the platform in April 2016. An astrologer wrote the post, which details various stages of Kohli’s personal and professional life since that time.
The post also stated, “Virat’s career will pick up in 2027 and he will retire on a very high note before March 2028” Check out the post below.

Muttiah Muralitharan, Sri Lanka’s former spin legend, previously stated that Virat Kohli’s longevity in cricket will not be determined solely by fitness. Muralitharan stated on a podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahbadia that factors such as eyesight and reflexes are also important. He stated that as a player slows down, their overall performance and effectiveness on the field, regardless of fitness level, may suffer.
Player of the tournament:
Despite winning Player of the Tournament with a record-breaking 765 runs in the 2023 World Cup final, Virat Kohli skipped the post-match presentation. Kohli’s individual achievement was overshadowed by India’s defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad. Batting at No. 3, he scored 54 runs, but India finished with 240 runs.
With Travis Head’s century, Australia successfully chased the target. The award was presented to Kohli by India Cricket Board President Roger Binny, but he walked away, visibly dejected, and refused the customary interview. Kohli’s run total surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record from the 2003 World Cup, in which India also lost to Australia in the final.
