Andrew Flintoff, a former cricket player for England, is getting ready to make his television comeback more than a year after he almost died in an accident while filming for Top Gear. He sustained facial injuries, broken ribs, and noticeable scars from the horrifying accident.
After being one of England’s top wicket-takers and run-scorers in the past, the 46-year-old former all-rounder is reportedly filming a second season of his BBC reality show, Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams. Since the accident, the cricket player has mostly avoided the spotlight in order to concentrate on his recuperation.
A few images from his trip to Sri Lanka, where he met players from the Lancashire Cricket Academy, went viral recently, showing that Flintoff was still scarred on his face more than a year after the accident.
Andrew Flintoff injury:
“This will be a huge comfort to his fans because it shows he’s healing well and going back to two of his greatest passions, sports and television, a source told The Sun. Although there is clearly some scarring, as was to be expected, Freddie appears to have come a long way since he was last seen playing cricket in public,” the man stated.
Unlike this time last year, he is obviously at ease enough to appear in front of the camera once more. The source continued, “It’s a real passion project for him, but they’re nervous first steps as he’s recovering both mentally and physically.”
In the Field of Dreams series, Flintoff will return to Preston, his hometown, to choose young, talented cricket players. After that, the former cricket player is expected to travel to India, a country that greatly values and respects the game.
New Zealand chose to bowl first in the match. With an 80-run partnership between Harry Brook (25 in 41 balls, two fours) and Dawid Malan (54 in 53 balls, nine fours), England got off to a strong start. Then England dropped to 101/3.
Then England reached 291/6 in 50 overs thanks to an 88-run partnership between Buttler (72) and a returning Ben Stokes (52 in 69 balls with three fours and a six) and a 77-run stand between Buttler and Liam Livingstone (52 in 40 balls, with three fours and three sixes).
The two best bowlers for New Zealand were Tim Southee (2/71) and Rachin Ravindra (3/48). Openers Devon Conway and Will Young (29) gave New Zealand a strong start in the chase of 292 by putting together a 61-run partnership. Conway and Henry Nicholls then shared a 56-run partnership (26 in 30 balls, with three fours).
