The Indian Cricket Board unveiled their 15-person team for the ODI World Cup 2023 on September 5. Shikhar Dhawan of Star India was going to be left off, but the final announcement divided fans on social media. Fans described it as the end of an era and recalled his incredible achievements in international competitions.
Dhawan, meanwhile, didn’t appear upset over being left off of India’s World Cup roster. He encouraged the group and wished them success. Dhawan and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar recently paid a devotional visit to the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Both of them were photographed while taking part in the Aarti. Dhawan claimed in a media interview that he came to pray for the Indian squad.

“India winning the World Cup is everyone’s hope, and I have also made the same request,” Dhawan told the media. Notably, captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid will serve as the team’s leaders. The team also includes Jasprit Bumrah, a bowler, and star Indian batsman Virat Kohli. KL Rahul, a wicketkeeper-batsman, returned from injury in the meantime.
It’s important to remember that the Indian team is right now competing in the Asia Cup. On September 10, they will compete in the Super 4 at Colombo International Stadium against their bitter nemesis Pakistan. The Netherlands will host five-time world champion Australia in a three-match ODI series beginning September 21 a week after the current continental championship.
For the opening match of the ODI World Cup 2023, the caravan will next travel to Chennai. On October 8, India will play Australia in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium in their opening match. On October 5, England will face New Zealand in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium to begin the competition. After 12 years, the Indian cricket team will attempt to win the title.
The One Day International Cricket World Championship is known as the Cricket World Cup, or ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The International Cricket Council, the organisation in charge of overseeing the sport, organises the event every four years, with preliminary qualification rounds preceding a finals competition.
