Osasuna vs Barcelona: Preview
Osasuna form analysis
The side have made an excellent start to the season under Jagoba Arrasate, winning 2 and losing just 1 of their opening 3 games.
They began with an accomplished 0-2 away win at Celta Vigo thanks to goals in each half from Ruben Garcia and Moi Gomez. However, Osasuna were then beaten by the same scoreline at home against Athletic Bilbao.
Most recently though, Osasuna produced their best performance to date by clinching a dramatic late 1-2 victory away at Valencia. Oroz’s first half penalty was cancelled out before Nacho Vidal struck a stoppage time winner.
Overall, it’s been a promising opening to the campaign for Osasuna as they aim to qualify for Europe. Blending defensive resilience with clinical finishing has worked very effectively so far.
Building on these foundations by finding more consistency against quality opponents will be crucial. But early signs suggest Osasuna can once again challenge the La Liga elite this season.
Barcelona form analysis
Barcelona have made an unbeaten if uneven start under Xavi, picking up 2 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses from their opening 3 league games.
They began with a disappointing 0-0 draw away at Getafe as they struggled to break down stubborn opposition despite dominating possession. Barca did improve to seal a professional 2-0 home win over Cadiz thanks to late goals from Pedri and Torres.
However, defensive vulnerabilities came to the fore last time out as Barca edged a seven-goal thriller away at Villarreal 4-3. They led twice but some chaotic defending meant they had to rely on Lewandowski’s winner to take the points.
Overall, early signs under Xavi have been mixed. Barca have showcased their attacking potential, creating plenty of chances through intricate build-up play. New signings Raphinha and Lewandowski have impressed.
However, lapses in concentration and failing to control games has led to avoidable dropped points already. Finding more control through dominance of possession and tightening up defensively will be key for Barca to challenge for the title again.
