As UFC 306 draws closer, Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili are raising the stakes. Suga will look to defend his UFC Bantamweight title for the second time, while Dvalishili will look to capture his first ever UFC championship. The Georgian fighter is brimming with confidence on the other hand, O’Malley is in dangerous form. His first title defense came against Marlon Vera, the only fighter to have defeated him in his UFC career. However, in a stunning masterclass from the champion, Vera was left bruised and battered.
The two fighters are intriguing each other
Heading to his second title defense, Suga looks as confident as ever. In a bts (behind-the-scenes) video released by the UFC recently, Dvalishvili and O’Malley were seen exchanging words in front of The Sphere. In the video, the Bantamweight champion started the conversation by saying, “Welcome to the big show… Be careful about what you wish for, Buddy.” Unfazed by the threat, “The Machine” replied with, “I knock people out, trust me.”
Such a reply touched a nerve with ‘Suga’ and he mocked Merab by saying, “If you could pick though, which one would you want, left hand or right hand? I see exactly where I’m gonna land that punch. So many options.” While the statements certainly sound intriguing, the two have had arguments multiple times recently. Dvalishvili once warned Sean O’Malley and his coach Tim Welch for crossing the line by making comments about their country.
Merab exposing his cut on social media didn’t go well with Dana White
Dvalishvili threatened to see Suga when they meet outside the octagon. Well, O’Malley is not the kind of person to be worried about these things. He immediately responded to his challenger and mentioned that two memorable moments of Dvalishvili would be when O’Malley let the Georgian hold his jacket and when Dvalishvili suffered a cut before the fight. Dvalishvili uploaded a video on his social media, informing his fans about the cut above his right eye. However, giving this kind of update did not go well with UFC CEO Dana White. Expressing his disappointment on the matter, White mentioned that such things need to be kept private.

Otherwise, the opposing camp will devise a strategy to exploit a fighter’s weak point. Thus, with a lot of preparations underway for the highly anticipated UFC 306 main event, it remains to be seen who comes out with the title on September 14.
