His team member, Sergey Lapin, has hinted at something big, like a possible move to Conor McGregor’s Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Lapin stated that once Usyk retires “The Gypsy King,” he will consider his options. This means combat fans could witness a historical faceoff between Usyk and McGregor in the BKFC.
Usyk open to many opportunities
Recently, in an interview with Betaway Insider, Sergey Lapin shared a glimpse of Usyk’s future plans. After his historic win over Tyson Fury, fans are curious to know what is next for him. Lapin revealed that Oleksandr is open to many exciting possibilities, as he has proven that he is the best of this generation. Once Gury retires, Usyk will consider his options.
“Maybe that’s dropping down in weight again, or maybe there is a wildcard option on the table for him, whether that be the boxing ring, the MMA cage, or even Conor McGregor’s BKFC,” said Lapin.
This revelation has led to intense speculation among the fans. Lapin also shed light on potential matchups and said, “He could face UFC Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, have an MMA bout against Anthony Joshua, or a boxing bout against Jake Paul.” He further revealed that the former UFC champion Conor McGregor commented on Instagram page “TheMacLife” with, ‘Usky in Bare Knuckle,’ to which Lapin responded with, ‘His team was ready to talk.’

In fact, Usyk himself re-shared the post on his Instagram story and wrote, “Let’s talk.” This has all added more intrigue to the excitement, leaving fans wondering what they will see in the future. Recently, Usyk’s former opponent, Tony Bellew, expressed his concern about the comments made by “The Cat” following his win over Fury. Bellow revealed something that rang in his ears during the press conference. “Was it not alarm bells when he said how hard camp was?” said Bellew. He then recalled Usyk’s statement, “The only person who beats him is him.”
This statement from Usyk hints at the immense internal pressure and challenges he faces to maintain his top form. On the other hand, British promoter Eddie Hearn speculated about Usyk’s future opponents and said that Anthony Joshua could bring new challenges for Usyk, despite his previous two defeats to him.
