Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan) 38 years
The venerable Mohammad Nabi, a former captain of the Afghanistan cricket team, is a seasoned campaigner with a wealth of experience. At 38 years old, Nabi became the oldest player to play in the Asia Cup 2023. Nabi relinquished the captaincy after the T20 World Cup in 2022 but continued to grace the international stage in white-ball formats.
Nabi’s credentials are impressive, with 3085 runs in 145 ODIs, including one century and 15 half-centuries. While in 11 Asia Cup fixtures, he has returned with scores of 267 runs with two fifties in his kitty. Not only is he a reliable batsman, but he is also a handy bowler with 154 wickets to his name, including a best of 4/30. In the Asia Cup 2023, Nabi became the player to score the fastest fifty for Afghanistan with 50 in 24 balls. His brilliant knock came during Afghanistan’s Group stage fixture against Sri lanka where Nabi came to bat at No 6 & smashed three six fours & three sixes to register the fastest fifty in Afghanistan ODI history.
