Anselmino’s journey from the youth setup at Boca to signing with one of the Premier League’s giants has been nothing short of remarkable. His steady presence on the pitch, marked by a keen sense of positioning and a calm demeanor under pressure, has made him a standout figure in the Argentine Primera Division.
Despite his relatively limited first-team experience—just 10 appearances so far—Chelsea sees immense potential in the young defender.
The deal, however, comes with an interesting twist. As part of the agreement, Anselmino will remain on loan at Boca Juniors for the 2024-25 season. This decision allows him to continue his development in a familiar environment while ensuring he gains valuable playing time before making the transition to Stamford Bridge.
Anselmino’s signing marks Chelsea’s continued focus on nurturing young talent, a strategy that has been evident throughout their summer transfer activities.
The Blues have already invested around £115 million in fresh faces, including midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Omari Kellyman, as well as goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Caleb Wiley, winger Estevao Willian, and striker Marc Guiu.
In addition to these acquisitions, Chelsea has also been active in the transfer market with outgoing deals, recouping approximately £90 million through the sales of Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, and Omari Hutchinson. The club is expected to add further to its coffers with Conor Gallagher’s anticipated move to Atletico Madrid for £33 million.
Chelsea’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements continues, with Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion reportedly high on their list of targets.
As the club gears up for the new Premier League season, which kicks off against reigning champions Manchester City on August 18, Anselmino’s future arrival is a sign of the long-term planning that has become a hallmark of Chelsea’s approach under their current management.
For now, Chelsea fans will have to wait another season to see Anselmino in action at Stamford Bridge, but the young Argentine’s future already looks bright in blue.
