Ajay Jadeja, a former cricketer for India, has been named the 2023 ODI World Cup mentor. In terms of his professional experience, he has competed in three World Cups, in 1992, 1996, and 1999. Jadeja has also participated in 196 ODIs and 15 Tests. Before the tournament begins, Afghanistan is yet to play their first exhibition match. Their exhibition match against South Africa was cancelled.
Afghanistan will compete in its third ODI World Cup match. In the 2015 competition, which was held in Australia and New Zealand, they defeated the seasoned Scotland team and prevailed by one wicket. They failed to win any of their nine games in the competition four years ago.

Jadeja is famous for his lightning-quick 45 off 25 balls against Pakistan in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal. In the match played in Bangalore, the then-defending champions appeared poised to keep India to a score of 250–260. But with his innings, which included the infamous massacre by Waqar Younis, the squad was able to reach 287/8. Ultimately, the home team prevailed by a score of 39 runs.
For the unversed, Cricket matches with restricted overs are known as One Day Internationals (ODIs), and they feature two international sides. Over the course of the game’s nine hours, each team will face a certain number of overs, presently 50. This format is used to play the Cricket World Cup, which typically happens every four years.
