James Anderson Impresses Despite England’s Struggles in India
Despite his age, James Anderson continues to defy expectations, turning in strong performances for England in the ongoing Test series against India. However, the series has not been most fruitful for his side but he has bowled plenty of overs with discipline.
The 41-year-old fast bowler, who missed the series opener, has impressed with his pace, accuracy, and stamina since joining the attack in Vizag.

Though his eight wickets in three Tests haven’t translated into series wins for England, Anderson’s dedication and skill serve as an inspiration for younger players.
Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, has been a thorn in England’s side throughout the series. The Indian pace spearhead has claimed a staggering 17 wickets at an average of 13.64 in three Tests, a remarkable feat for a fast bowler in India.
Bumrah’s world-class ability to dismantle batting lineups was evident throughout the series. Against the old ball bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, English batters only average around 7 which tells how damaging he has been with the old ball.
Anderson Acknowledges Primacy of Jasprit Bumrah
Anderson himself acknowledged Bumrah’s brilliance, praising the Indian bowler’s swing, yorker deliveries, and overall skill. “He’s a great exponent of reverse swing, and that yorker to Ollie Pope… He’s not number one in the world by fluke,” Anderson said in an interview with Jio Cinema.

The veteran bowler also spoke about his long-standing rivalry with Virat Kohli, who missed the series due to injury. Kohli notoriously struggled against Anderson in England in 2014, averaging a mere 13.50. However, he bounced back in 2018, finishing as the series’ leading run-scorer.
“While English fans are likely relieved he’s not playing, from our perspective, you want to test yourself against the best,” Anderson said. “He’s been someone who I’ve found really challenging to bowl at, and it’s a shame he’s not been playing.”
