Norwich vs West Brom: Preview
Norwich form analysis
The Canaries’ recent Championship form has been inconsistent. Two wins, one draw and two defeats from their past five matches. This period started positively with a 2-0 home victory over Huddersfield Town on December 23rd thanks to goals from Sam McCallum and Borja Sainz. However, back-to-back 1-0 away losses followed against West Brom on Boxing Day and Millwall three days later as Norwich struggled to create chances.
Stopping this losing run, Norwich fought back to secure a 1-1 away draw with Southampton on New Year’s Day despite falling behind to an Adam Armstrong goal. Building on this result, the Canaries claimed an important 2-1 away win at struggling Hull City on January 13th with second half goals from Jordan Rowe and Christopher Fassnacht. Based on this recent mixed form, Norwich has proven capable of strong performances but struggled for attacking threat during their mini losing streak. An area which must improve for them to sustain consistency.
West Brom form analysis
West Brom’s recent Championship form has been fairly strong. Three wins and two losses from their past five matches. This run began negatively with a 1-0 away loss to Middlesbrough on December 23rd in a tight match settled by Marcus Rogers first half strike. However, a narrow 1-0 home victory over Norwich City followed three days later courtesy of a Brandon Thomas-Asante winner. West Brom then edged Leeds United 1-0 at home on December 30th thanks to Grady Diangana’s goal for a second straight victory.
Their momentum was halted by a 1-0 loss away to Swansea on New Year’s Day, undone by a second half Luke Cullen goal. Despite this blip, West Brom responded excellently in their last match on January 13th, hammering Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at home led by a brace from Thomas-Asante. Based on these results against varying opposition. West Brom has found fairly strong form and look difficult to beat. The ever dangerous Thomas-Asante spearheading their promotion push.
