Nice vs Metz: Preview
Nice form analysis
Nice’s recent Ligue 1 form has been inconsistent. Two wins, a draw and two losses from their past five league matches. This fluctuating run began with a narrow 1-0 away loss to struggling Nantes on December 3rd as Nice failed to capitalize on chances created. However, they bounced back with an important 2-1 home win over Reims three days later courtesy of goals from Gaëtan Laborde and Jeremie Boga. But defensive issues resurfaced in an embarrassing 3-1 defeat away to second-tier Le Havre in the Coupe de France on December 16th, outplayed from start to finish.
Arresting this slide, Nice produced an impressive 2-0 home win over top four rivals Lens on December 21st through two late Terem Moffi penalties. However, their momentum stalled recently with a lackluster 2-0 away loss to Rennes on January 14th. Struggling to impose themselves against quality opposition once again. Based on these mixed displays, Nice has proven unpredictable and capable of beating lesser sides consistently but tends to falter against stronger teams.
Metz form analysis
Metz’s recent Ligue 1 form has been very poor. Four consecutive defeats and no wins from their past five league matches. This miserable run began on December 3rd with a lacklustre 2-0 home loss against Lille, struggling to create chances. Things worsened on December 10th as Metz fell to another narrow 1-0 home defeat, this time against Brest through Jeremy Le Douaron’s strike.
The manager came under increasing pressure after a third straight 1-0 loss at home, this time edging past Montpellier on December 17th from Matteo Esteve’s early goal. The losing run continued before Christmas as Metz were comfortably beaten 3-1 away at champions PSG on December 21st. Twice falling two goals behind despite a Mickaël Udol reply. Most recently on January 14th, Metz suffered a fourth straight league loss, beaten 1-0 at home by Toulouse as their relegation fears grow. Based on these results, Metz’s porous defense and shot-shy attack has left them completely out of form and lacking confidence.
