Nepal National Cricket Team
Early in the 20th century, the ruling Rana line brought cricket to Nepal by creating several grounds close to the royal palaces after returning from studies in India and England.
Founded in 1946, the Cricket Association of Nepal joined the Asian Cricket Council in 1994. Nepal took part in the ICC Trophy for the first time in 2001 and the Under-19 World Cup in 1999, 2002, and 2004.
The Nepal cricket team joined the ICC in 1988 and was granted Associate Membership status in 1996. The ICC granted the team T20I status in June 2014, and it remained that way until the 2015 World Cup qualifier.
After defeating Papa New Guinea in the March 2018 World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, Nepal achieved its first-ever ODI status (for four years). It also regained its T20I status when the ICC decided to grant T20I status to all of its members.
When they participated in the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh, they made their debut in an ICC international tournament. In August 2018, Nepal achieved their first-ever series tie at 1-1 at home with a last-ball ODI victory over the Netherlands.
Six sixes in an over Nepal cricket star Dipendra Singh equivalates Yuvraj Singh’s record
In the current ACC Premier Cup 2024, Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee made history by hitting six sixes in a single over while playing Qatar in a Twenty20 international.
After Yuvraj Singh of India and Kieron Pollard of the West Indies, he is now the third cricket player to smack six sixes in a T20I over. In T20Is, he is also the only cricket player to hit six sixes in a row twice. In a match against Mongolia at the
Asian Games 2023, Airee also hit six consecutive sixes, albeit throughout two overs. Airee, who batted at No. 5, scored 64 off 21 balls during his innings, which included three fours and seven sixes.
He scored six sixes in an over against Kamran Khan. In 20 overs, Nepal achieved 210/7 against Qatar, who also had batsmanship issues.
Nepal Played the Friendship Cup Tri-Series in India, to boost their T20 World Cup 2024
In the T20 tri-series final played on Sunday at Sai Meghpan Sportslife Cricket Ground in Vapi, the Nepali senior men’s cricket team defeated Gujarat to win the SMS Friendship Cup.
Defending the aim of 177 runs in the tri-series between Nepal, Gujarat, and Baroda, the visiting team defeated the host Gujarat by eighteen runs.
Nepal made a respectable 176 runs at the cost of four wickets after winning the toss and choosing to bat. In the championship, squad captain Rohit Kumar Paudel scored the most points.
Aasif (34 off 34) left after being hit leg-before, and Kushal Malla came into the crease following the departure of Kushal Bhurtel (19 off 21). Still, as Aasif (74 off 47) attempted to hit a straight boundary, spinner Tejas Patel caught him.
Nepal reached 176 runs at the end of 20 overs, thanks in large part to Kushal Malla’s not-out inning of 31 off 13 runs. One wicket apiece was claimed by Gujarat by Jaymeet Patel, Shen Patel, Tejas Patel, and Zala Yuvrajsinh.
In the first two games of the competition, the key three pacers—Karan KC, Sompal Kami, and Abinash Bohara—were part of the target that Nepal defended.
In the last two matches, Pratish GC was given a chance, and the players were substituted. But after losing to Baroda on April 6, Nepal did not want to lose; therefore, the starting lineup returned to the field for the championship game.
Unbeaten run of Nepal Cricket team in ACC Premier Cup 2024
In the ACC Premier Cup, the Nepalese cricket team won four games in a row. In the over-reduced match, they triumphed over Saudi Arabia by six wickets.
After winning each of its four group-stage games, Nepal is currently undefeated in the competition. After four games and eight points, they were the winners of Group A.
Due to a damp outfield and a pitch-related problem, the Saudi Arabian match was shortened to eight overs apiece. After winning the toss, Nepal decided to field first.
Saudi Arabia managed to post a decent total of 73/7 in eight overs. Abdul Waheed top scored with a 16-ball 37. Other batters were unable to make a big contribution.
Nepal’s Abinash Bohara was the pick of the bowlers with a spell of 2-0-15-2. Karan KC also did well to grab two wickets (2-0-21-2). Pratish GC and Lalit Rajbanshi grabbed one wicket each, while Dipendra Airee conceded just six runs from the last over.
