At a marketing event in China last week, Harden made the contentious comments, reportedly unhappy at a broken promise to be dealt with. The 33-year-old responded quickly when asked by a KHOU 11 reporter in Houston if he believed his relationship with the team was irreparably damaged.
“I believe so,”
Harden has requested to be dealt, but the Philadelphia 76ers abandoned their efforts to acquire him over the weekend following unsuccessful negotiations with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Harden remarked, “I’ve been patient all summer. For me, it’s just a matter of concentrating on what I can control, working out, maintaining my fitness, and preparing for this season.”
The location of the season’s games is still unknown. In front of a group of sponsors on Monday, Harden yelled at Morey.
“Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never join a group that he belongs to.”
Harden then stated. “Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organisation that he’s part of.”
The six-time first-team All-NBA star Harden, who Morey twice acquired, nevertheless prefers to play elsewhere. However, the 76ers told Harden’s agents that they were counting on him to report to the team for training camp the following month. In June, Harden consented to exercise his $35.6 million player option in order to aid with a deal. Teammate and current league MVP Joel Embiid expressed his optimism that Harden will play for the 2023–24 squad.
When Houston orchestrated a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012 to acquire Harden, Morey was the Rockets’ general manager at the time. He played with the team for more than eight seasons and earned NBA MVP.
In a February 2022 transaction that brought the guard to Philadelphia and Ben Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets, Morey, who eventually went on to Philadelphia, acquired Harden once again. In 58 games last season, Harden, who turns 34 on August 26, averaged 21.0 points, a league-high 10.7 assists, and 6.1 rebounds.
In 1,000 games (786 starts), he has averaged 24.7 points, 7.0 assists, and 5.6 rebounds with the Thunder, Rockets, Nets, and 76ers.
