Nate Diaz is set to face Jorge Masvidal in a rematch, but this time under boxing rules. The two former UFC fighters are scheduled to face off in a 10-round pay-per-view boxing match on June 1 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
2019 was the last time both faced each other
Their last encounter took place at UFC 244 on November 2, 2019, where they competed for the BMF title. Masvidal won the fight via TKO due to the doctor’s stoppage. Since the beginning of 2024, “Gamebred” has been actively seeking a rematch with Diaz, while “The Stockton Slugger” is focused on returning to the UFC and recently announced his intention to compete at UFC 306. However, despite his UFC aspirations, Nate is preparing for his second boxing match after losing to Jake Paul in his boxing debut last year.
The Former UFC stars have had incredible careers
The bout will take place at 175 pounds and the event will be presented by the fighters’ respective promotional entities, Diaz’s Real Fight Inc. and Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing Promotions. Diaz ended his incredible 15-year stint in the UFC in 2022, with a submission win over Tony Ferguson. During his notable career with promotion, he gained a big stardom following a victory over Conor McGregor. His other noteworthy wins include Donald Cerrone, Gray Maynard and Takanori Gomi and more, cementing his legacy in the sport.
Likewise, Masvidal’s fame rose tremendously during his decade-long tenure in the UFC. He delivered the fastest knockout in UFC history with his super-flying knee finish of Ben Askren at UFC 239 in June 2019. Despite announcing his retirement from MMA following a decision loss to Gilbert Burns last April, Masvidal has now decided to return to boxing.

Masvidal is motivated by his previous victory and expressed his belief in a statement declaring, “Nate is a dead man walking.” He stressed his readiness to prove that his last fight was no fluke and criticized Nate’s boxing skills. Jorge vowed to dominate him in the rematch and leave no room for doubt about his superiority.
