UFC Veteran Nate Diaz, who lost to Jorge Masvidal in an MMA bout five years ago, got his revenge on Saturday in a boxing fight. Diaz dominated the whole fight and scored a majority decision win. After this amazing victory, Diaz boldly called out Jake Paul and Leon Edwards, challenging them to a fight.
Diaz called out his former opponents for a rematch
“The Stockton Slugger” called out Jake Paul, who beat him by decision in his boxing debut last year. He also sent a message to current UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards, whom he made shaky in the final round during their fight at UFC 263 in 2021. Diaz stated that he will beat Jake Paul and is ready to fight the highest-ranked boxer he can find. The veteran fighter also said that his main goal has always been to be the best fighter in the world, so he wants to go back and capture the UFC title. Diaz’s post-fight speech got a great and loud applause from his hometown crowd.
The fight started with a surprise as “Gamebred” adopted a southpaw stance, but Diaz got off to a strong start in the first round. Masvidal landed more in the second round and looked for big counters in the third, while Diaz relied on his high output. In the fourth round, Diaz looked tired and took a break before attacking his opponent with a clean one-two combination. Masvidal responded with several big punches in the fifth round, and both fighters had their moments in the sixth round.
Masvidal has demanded a rematch
The rounds were closely contested, with both fighters giving their best. However, Diaz landed more punches overall. The two traded blows until the end of the fight, but Nate kept the pressure on throughout the fight, which led to him getting the decision win. Masvidal believes that the judges were influenced by the audience and disagreed with the 8-2 score in favor of Diaz. “Gamebred” demanded a rematch in a neutral venue. He also claimed to be landing more crucial punches and wants their rematch to be a boxing bout as well.
