Mukesh Kumar On Virat Hugging Him After Maiden Test Wicket
In a recent interview with BCCI, Mukesh expressed his joy of taking the first Maiden test wicket. A grinning Mukesh with his senior pace bowling partner (though younger), Mohammed Siraj said, “When I took the wicket, Virat Bhaiya rushed over and gave me a big hug. I was in an unfamiliar setting. You’re being hugged by the TV character I’ve admired for so many years. It felt amazing!”
Mukesh made an excellent debut on a flat, lifeless deck, finishing with the scores of 18-6-48-2.
‘It’s not a pitch where you can get wickets instantly.’ Rohit bhai commented when you (Siraj) and JD (Unadkat) bhai were bowling. Work hard; you must. I have to bowl consistently to set up the batter,” said Mukesh, who was chosen by former Bengals seamer Ranadeb Bose during an open tryout in the 2013–14 campaign as part of the ambitious ‘Vision2020’ program.
Mukesh Kumar On Getting Selected For The Match
It took some time for Mukesh to sink in the information that he will be playing in the match. Though, Mukesh says, he was mentally prepared because he had practiced in the nets. He said, “I was surprised and almost passed out when I learned that I would be performing. I usually come prepared. Whether I play or not. So I went to the team meeting while keeping in mind that I needed to stick to my routine. But I had a sneaking suspicion that I might participate.” All individuals involved in this adventure were thrilled, including his mother, who was visibly tensed.
He continued, “Consequently, while it’s nighttime here, it’s dawn in India. It was a great feeling to tell my mother. Maa main desh ke liye khel raha hoon (Mom, I am playing for the country). When I arrived at the hotel in the evening I told Siraj, “Everyone who has helped me from the beginning, including my family, is amazed.”
