#4) Andrew Symonds
The original enfant terrible of the Australian Cricket Team, Symonds’ exceptional on-field achievements were often overshadowed by his contentious off-field reputation.
In August 2008, Symonds found himself dismissed from the team for missing a crucial team meeting while indulging in fishing. This incident prompted his reconsideration of continuing in the sport and subsequently led to his exclusion from the squad for the India tour. Barely a year later, Symonds was once again sent back from England during the ICC Twenty20 World Cup due to an alcohol-related episode. This unfortunate incident marked the end of his tenure with the baggy green as Cricket Australia terminated his contract.
Yet, his most notorious moment arrived during an ill-fated interview with comedians Roy & HG. In an inebriated state, he targeted Brendon McCullum with a derogatory term and indirectly expressed inappropriate interest in Matthew Hayden’s spouse. This misstep resulted in charges by Cricket Australia for violating the code of conduct. Consequently, he was deemed ineligible for selection until completing a rehabilitation process.
