There are a number of sports around the world and athletes are known to personalize their appearance through body art. And often, body art in sports involves tattoos extensively. MMA fighters are especially known to express themselves through artwork inked on their bodies. Sometimes, the tattoo represents the culture of the fighter or immortalizes an important event. Still, some of the UFC fighters have got so many questionable tattoos. Let’s have a look at some of the most bizarre tattoos fighters ever got.
Brock Lesnar
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has the most dangerous physique in the history of the sport. The tattoo on Lesnar’s back is a demonic skull, which adds a tangible aura to his intimidating frame, which he chose to pair with raising eyebrows. From his chest to midsection, “The Beast” has a tattoo of a fist holding a sword. Lesnar hoped this tattoo would be an expression of a warrior, but this tattoo is not even recognized as a sword, and people compare it with other embarrassing kinds of objects.
Colin Fletcher
The British man Colin Fletcher is a unique UFC fighter with clear interests in vampire aesthetics. His mouthpiece was designed to mimic the fangs of a vampire, and his tattoos are a reflection of his interest in demon lore. His most prominent tattoo is on his chest, which is of a spider with a heart on its body. From the heart emerge two large, clawed hands to wrap around his upper chest and shoulders, as if intent on strangling Fletcher. The tattoo is quite bizarre in itself. This further lends to Fletcher’s obsession with monsters, which makes it even more weird.
CM Punk
CM Punk made a big name in WWE and was once a highly polarizing fighter but failed to prove himself in MMA. Several opinions were divided regarding the merits behind Dana White’s decision to allow an unproven Mixed martial artist to fight in the UFC. however everything was overshadowed by Punk’s unique Pepsi logo tattoo on his left shoulder. He claims that he got this tattoo done because of his love for pepsi products.
Alan Belcher
Belcher was considered one of the best and most exciting middleweights on the UFC’s roster. After debuting in 2006, he compiled a UFC record of 9-6. He retired in 2013, but the fans remember him more for the strange tattoo on his left arm than his fighting skills. He got a portrait of the famous singer Johnny Cash. It appeared to be stretched due to Belcher’s bulging biceps and didn’t look like the singer. His inking also faced abuse from his fellow fighters. In 2011, Michael Bisping suggested to Belcher that he should sue his tattoo artist for that disgusting thing on his arm.
Joey Beltran
Beltran fought in the UFC from 2010 to 2013 , compiling a record of 3-6 with a no contest. Unfortunately, he is also remembered for his intentional hilarious tattoos. In his case, Beltran is not the one to be blamed because the line written in an almost unreadable curly font said “You’ve got you’re fools mixed up”. This wouldn’t be on our bizarre tattoo list if Beltran’s tattoo artist didn’t make a grammatical error.
Joe Riggs
Riggs has plied his trade in the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator and the WEC. He picked up some of the most impressive wins in the UFC, but he has also inked some of the most hilarious tattoos. Riggs tattooed his nickname “Diesel” on his midsection. Riggs is the former WEC Champion, but he is more known for his nickname tattoo, because the big green tattoo is inked on his stomach.
Frank Mir
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir holds the record for most submission wins at Heavyweight, and was one of the first fighters to transition from the cage to the broadcast booth. However, his decision to get his name tattooed on his right arm is something many MMA enthusiasts question. Frank’s nickname “Mir” is tattooed on his biceps, this led to the impression that Mir simply wanted to get a tattoo at the time but was short on ideas. Although he later covered the tattoo with another tattoo, he cannot undo the past.
Jamahal Hill
Jamahl Hill has several tattoos on his body. Below his neck, “Sweet Dreams” has a tattoo that reads “Northside’s”. However, to the side, he has two thumbs-up tattoos on the outer sides of his upper chest. The artwork is comical and probably fails to convey what Hill expected from it. However, the purpose of the tattoo may actually be humorous considering the moment Hill stood on the scale with two thumbs up, mimicking his tattoo with the gesture.
Justin Gaethje
Justin Gaethje is the most violent fighter in the lightweight division. Everytime “The Highlight” enters the octagon, he gives immense action and audience to the audience. In an effort to make his appearance dangerous too, Gaethje tattooed a bad boy logo on his body. However, the real meaning behind this tattoo has not been revealed yet. The other tattoo he got was a pair of eyes on the left side of his ribs and was a subject of ridicule on the internet at the time of its inception.
Darren Elkins
Darren Elkins is remembered for his durability, and although he’s neither championship nor top contender material, “The Damage” is terrifyingly tough. His ability to withstand crushing punishment is reflected in his nickname “The Damage”. Unfortunately, Elkins decided to ink his nickname on his body. He tattooed it across his upper chest, which is visible to anyone who even looks at him. To Elkins’ dismay, his tattoo merely recalls the eye-rolling edginess.
