Notably, Shami had a successful surgery in London on February 26, 2024, to address a problem with his right heel. The BCCI medical team is currently keeping an eye on him.

Shami on his X account wrote, “Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery progress. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements I have achieved and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey. ,”
Shami is unlikely to recover in time for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place in the USA and the West Indies starting on June 1st, given that he has already been ruled out of the IPL. The seamer, though, hopes to get back on the field before India’s five-Test tour of Australia later this year.
Notably, Shami broke numerous records during the ODI World Cup, finishing as the top wicket-taker with 24 wickets from seven innings at an economy of 5.26 and an average of 10.7. In the tournament, he claimed three five-wicket hauls, his best being 7/57 against New Zealand in the crucial semi-final played at Wankhede Stadium.
The speedster, who topped the bowling charts in the previous season with 28 wickets from 17 innings at an average of 18.64 and an economy of 8.03, will be a huge loss for the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming IPL 2024.
