Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder for Australia, sparked a lot of controversy when he stood on the World Cup trophy during his team’s post-match festivities. Australia defeated India, the hosts of the World Cup, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last month to win a record-tying sixth World Cup title. Marsh was seen placing his foot on the World Cup trophy in a widely shared photo as the team celebrated their win. Some even suggested that Marsh had the game and the trophy by doing the same; therefore, he was the target of some pretty harsh criticism. Mitchell Marsh Break Silence On Legs On Controversy
Twelve days have passed since Australia’s victory over India, and Marsh has finally spoken out over the contentious gesture.
The 32-year-old has maintained that his viral celebration, which went viral across India, was done with no malice intended.
“It is clear that no disrespect was intended in any way in that picture. Despite everyone telling me it’s gone off, I haven’t given it much attention and haven’t seen much on social media. That’s not true,” Marsh informed SEN.
Marsh scored 441 runs over the competition, but Travis Head’s game-winning century in the championship match stole the show. However, after setting a new record for the most runs in a single World Cup with 765, India’s great batsman Virat Kohli was voted “Player of the Tournament.”

Astonished by India’s 148-4 victory, Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins had Kohli play on for 54 minutes in the final, leaving the Narendra Modi Stadium’s nearly 92,000 spectators in silence.
Before the game, Cummins—who concluded the match with incredible statistics of 2-34 in 10 overs—said that there was no greater thrill for a player on the other side than to silence the biased home audience.
When asked if removing Kohli was the most satisfying moment in cricket he had ever experienced, Cummins, 30, said, “I believe so. In the huddle, we did pause for a moment to recognize the stillness that was circulating among the participants.
“It just felt like it was one of those days where it was all made for him (Kohli) to score another hundred like he normally does, so that was satisfying.”
